Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Perm.

Most perms last between two and six months, depending on hair porosity, curl size and home care. Proper conditioning and limited heat styling preserve shape. Follow our stylist’s aftercare recommendations and schedule periodic touch-ups to maintain curl definition and manage regrowth.

Perms can be safe on color-treated hair when done by a professional after a consultation. We assess hair health and may recommend bond-repair treatments or gentler solutions. Timing between color and perm is important; your stylist will advise the best approach for minimal risk.

Chemical perms can stress hair if it’s weak or previously overprocessed, but damage is minimized with proper assessment and technique. We perform strand tests, use conditioning treatments and recommend fortifying products to protect integrity while achieving your desired curl.

Arrive with clean, dry hair free of heavy styling products or oils. Avoid chemical services for at least two weeks prior and disclose any recent treatments. This helps us accurately evaluate hair condition and achieve consistent, healthy perm results.

Wait 48 to 72 hours before shampooing, then use sulfate-free cleansers and hydrating conditioners. Limit heat styling and use heat protectant when necessary. Deep condition weekly and consult us for recommended styling products to preserve curl shape and hair health.

Expect 90 to 180 minutes for a full perm appointment, including consultation, strand tests, application, processing and styling. Time varies with hair length, thickness and chosen curl size. We'll provide an accurate estimate during your consultation.
